Happy Holidays from the allsevens team
The staggering total raised by our generous
supporters has come to £4,500 in the UK to support Jole
Rider and $36,600 in the US for World Bicycle Relief. These
totals should allow Jole Rider to pay for shipping of over
400 of their donated bicycles to schoolchildren in the Gambia
and allow WBR to provide over 350 purpose built bikes for
their Zambia project -over 750 bikes in total.
THANK YOU once again to all who contributed.
"On behalf of the people we serve, I
would like to thank the allsevens
team on a job well done. The money you raised through your
audacious
challenge purchased enough bicycles to affect the lives of
thousands of
people in Zambia. Your efforts helped us spread the power
of bicycles to
the people who need it most -- thank you!"
F.K. Day, President of
World Bicycle Relief

**allsevens success**
At 4.30 on Friday 6th July the cycling team rolled up to
Big Ben to be greeted by the support team who had negotiated
the London traffic to arrive a few minutes ahead. Tired but
jubilant after a trip made much harder by low temperatures,
rain and headwinds, the team were looking forward to a couple
of days watching other people work as the Tour riders take
on the London prologue and Stage 1 through Kent.A huge Thank
You to all our supporters.

We hope to add a photo diary soon.
The Idea
The Tour is coming to London! Hey, if we are going to 'Le
Grand Depart', shouldn't we ride there?
As the prologue is scheduled for 07/07/07 how about a ride
with a ‘sevens’ theme?
From here, ideas snowballed and we are embarking on a challenging
ride to raise money for charities that promote bicycle use
in Africa. The myriad uses to which bikes are put in support
of everyday life in the developing world are in stark contrast
to the fleeting, high tech, razzamatazz of Le Tour, irresistible
as it is. The opportunity to use one to support the other
is too good to miss!
The Ride
- 777 miles
- 7 countries
- 7 days
- 7 previous venues for "Le Grand Depart",
the start of the Tour de France
- 07/07/07, finish in London for this years event
Starting in Basle, Switzerland (Le Grand Depart 1982) on
30 June and visiting Strasbourg, France (2006), Frankfurt,
Germany (1980), Luxembourg (2002), Liege, Belgium (2004),
Scheveningen, Netherlands (1973) and London, UK, (2007). More
details on our route page.
Comments and helpful suggestions on the chosen route would
be welcome.
The Charities
We have chosen two charities to support, World
Bicycle Relief in the US and Jole
Rider in the UK. Both these organisations have
major projects in Africa working to provide bicycles as everyday
transport to improve the lives of ordinary people. More details
on our charities page.
